Located in the heart of Henderson, The Depot is a replica of the original 1901 L&N passenger train station and stands as an example of the city’s commitment to preserving the past, while embracing Henderson’s future. The Depot Community Room, recently closed, showcased the history of Henderson and provided a number of resources for the community. Permanent and temporary displays showcased the people and industries that have impacted Henderson and the world. Special events included monthly guided walking tours April through November, as well as the popular Fernwood Cemetery tours, the award-winning Spooks and Legends tours, and the Storytellers Festival.
These activities will now be conducted through the Genealogy and Local History Department at the Henderson County Public Library.
