HISTORIC WALKING/LISTENING TOURS
First Saturday of each month – 10 AM to 11 AM (unless otherwise noted)
Guided tours of points of historical and legendary significance to Henderson’s history. Walking tours start within The Community Room at The Depot and continue throughout historic downtown Henderson. Henderson’s past comes alive as you learn about the history and architecture of some of Henderson’s most beautiful homes and businesses. Tour guides vary each month – with different stories and insights. Walking tours are fairly level and wheelchair accessible.

May 4 – Education in Henderson (Listening Tour at 10:30 am at Audubon Museum Theater)
June 1 – Historical River Walk
July 6 – Audubon Bird Statues (Listening Tour at 10:30 at Audubon Museum Theater)
August 3 – Flavor of Henderson
September 7 – Downtown Historical Tour
October 5 – Undertakers and Funeral Homes
November 2 – Breweries, Distilleries, & Speakeasies (listening Tour at Henderson Brewing Co. — Time TBA)
Walking tours begin at The Depot, at 10am, approximately 1 hour, free. Listening tour times and locations are noted above.
AUGUST: FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, AUGUST 10, 2018 — 10 AM to 4 PM
The Depot Community Room Teams up with Downtown Henderson Partnership to host the Folklife Festival during the Bluegrass in the Park Festival. This community event, held in Audubon Mill Park, features a host of food makers, artists and other educational exhibits about folklife traditions in western Kentucky. In the past exhibits have included antique bicycles, llama shearing, soap making, beeswax candles and much more. Traditional games for children.

SEPTEMBER: FERNWOOD CEMETERY TOUR
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2019 — 3 PM and 4:30 PM
Guided walking tours through Henderson’s oldest cemetery, with local actors portraying some of our most interesting citizens of Henderson who now reside in Fernwood. One of our most popular tours!
Starts at Fernwood Cemetery, Madison Street, tours begin at 3pm and 4:30pm, tickets $10, available at the Depot.
OCTOBER: STORYTELLING FESTIVAL IN THE GATSBY ROOM
OCTOBER 26, 2019, 7 PM
Legendary yarnspinner Bob Park heads a lineup of storytellers relating true stories ranging from the eerie to the macabre, all with a Henderson connection. Audience members will be invited to submit short stories on index cards to be drawn from a hat and read by volunteers during breaks between storytellers.
Starts at 7 pm in the Gatsby Room at Hometown Roots in the Soaper Building, cost $20. Seating is limited. Tickets available at the Depot.
